WISCOPEX '96 UPDATE

The WISCOPEX '96 Exhibits Committee is looking for exhibitors to participate at the show, which will be held at Oconomowoc on May 4-5. A prospects and entry form is available from Gene Bowman, WISCOPEX '96 Exhibits Committee Chairman, P.O. Box 1451, Waukesha, WI 53187. Up to 160 frames of 16 pages each will be available. For those who have never exhibited before, the new Display Class of exhibits gives you a chance to try it with little if any cost and few restrictions. Why not give it a try. But be careful. You might just like it.

The show will have 30 dealers that cover the entire gamut of collector interests. Dealers will be coming hem as far away as State College, PA, and several are new to me area they'll have new materials for collectors to view. We have made an honest effort to get dealers so that everyone can find some-thing for their collections.

The theme for me show focuses on Georgia O'Keefe, a Wisconsin native artists upcoming Georgia O'Keefe stamp issue featuring her painting of pop-pies will frank the show covers. An appropriate cachet and cancel will be available as well.

The Sunspree Holiday Inn (formerly called the Olympia Resort) in Oconomowoc has just been remodeled and redecorated and is a first-class facility for this show. The awards banquet is scheduled for Saturday evening and should be fun.

A lot of effort is being put into this show and we expect it to be one of the best that you will have the opportunity to attend. If you recall the caliber of WISCOPEX '88 and TOPEX '93 (other shows hosted by the Waukesha County Philatelic Society), you know what you can expect at WISCOPEX '96.

1996 COVER EXCHANGE PROGRAM The WFSC will again sponsor a nationwide cover exchange program in which all stamp clubs, philatelic organizations, and individuals may participate. The exchange program is being conducted in conjunction with National Stamp Collecting Month in October. The exchange offer will expire October 31, with returns being made to participants by mid-November.

Participants must submit 10 all-alike covers and a large 55^ SASE. In exchange, eight different covers will be sent back. (The extra covers will be used for the WFSC's youth program.) Only unaddressed cacheted covers bearing either pictorial or first-day cancels can be submitted. A maximum of 20 covers can be submitted, and the cover exchange program coordinator reserves the right to return covers considered unsatisfactory for exchange.

To participate, send your covers and a 55^ SASE to: WFSC, P.O. Box 1451, Waukesha, WI 53187.

THANK YOU KETTLE MORAINE COIN AND STAMP CLUB

To keep the WFSC running smoothly, it's necessary that the Executive Board meet a minimum of three times a year. To accommodate board members who are scattered throughout the state, meetings are held in various locations and preferably in conjunction with a local member-club show.

Lately, it's been increasingly difficult to find a facility that doesn't charge for use of its meeting room. This was the case when the board wanted to meet on November 9 in West Bend - the date and location of the Fall Coin and Stamp Show sponsored by the Kettle Moraine Coin and Stamp Club. Our many thanks to the KMCSC for volunteering to pick up the $25 room rental tab!
